The Exodus event is something that the Bible seems to circle around throughout. I noticed it circling around creation the other day. Compare Exodus 14:20-21 with Genesis 1:4, 9:
Light and Darkness: | |
The pillar of cloud came between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long. | God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. |
Waters and Land: | |
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. | And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. |
