In the last couple of weeks, we’ve kind of seen our year’s schedule come together and we wanted to share with you all so you could have an overview and know how to be praying.
- February (this week): Benjamin will be leading a few sessions in a training workshop for new translation note writers.
- March: Benjamin will be in South Sudan for a couple of weeks to observe (and help with some translation training modules) unfoldingWord’s Equipping Journey translation process. This is a selection of scripture texts for translation that deal with certain theological topics in the hopes of growing and maturing the translators and encouraging pastor-translators to take those texts and begin using them immediately in church teaching. Right now he’s reading all the material the Sudanese teams have been working through.
- Also March: Staring during the second week of that workshop, in the late afternoon-early evening Benjamin will be part of a 2.5-week remote checking workshop for the Ron translation of Genesis in Nigeria. The first week overlaps so he’ll be observing his mentor lead sessions from South Sudan, but Benjamin won’t be leading any checking sessions until after he returns to the US (when those sessions will be early morning). Right now he’s checking two chapters of Genesis a week and sending notes to the team in Nigeria.
- May: Benjamin is not going to Italy for a translation class because little Wright #4 is due. (He will probably do the class on zoom.) As usual, we haven’t found out if this one is a boy or girl and the soonest we’re likely to agree on names is on the way to the birth center. Right now we’re trying to stop calling Anastasia “baby” and she’s starting to understand that she can point to mommy’s tummy and say, “baby.”
- July: Benjamin will be in Nigeria for over two weeks for another checking workshop for the Ron translation.
- September: We hope to make a trip to the east coast to see our family, friends, partners, partner churches, share about what’s been going on with our Wycliffe ministry with folks, have a little vacation, etc. We’re thinking perhaps up to six weeks in North Carolina and north. (Benjamin will probably be prepping for the Oct-Nov Ron workshop among other things while we’re traveling.) Right now we’re trying to decide if we’re doing any camping … and if we need a bigger tent since six people don’t actually fit in six-man tents.
- October: Benjamin will be attending a Bible Translation Conference here in Dallas.
- October-November: Benjamin will be in Nigeria for over two weeks for another checking workshop for the Ron translation.
