Thank you for your continued partnership with our Wycliffe ministry. Your prayers and support are what enable us to equip church-based translation teams with the resources they need to bring the Word of God to their communities.
** Accelerated Content Creation ————————————————————
Since January Benjamin has been working on a new AI setup for our content-creation team. While there is still plenty of work to do, this tool allows the AI to generate initial drafts of our resources (following all our best practices from the last 5 years), which our team then meticulously checks and refines. This shift has significantly increased our speed, and we have recently gotten back on track to finish all translation resources for the Old Testament by the end of this year.
Please pray for: * Ongoing tweaks and support for this new AI tool. * A smooth migration of the tool to a new hosting solution.
** Progress in the Prophets ————————————————————
On the individual front, Benjamin has recently finished resources for Habakkuk and Lamentations. He is currently diving into work on Zechariah, continuing the push toward our year-end goal.
** Guiding an AI Translation Assistant ————————————————————
We are also rolling out the second version of our AI translation assistant. What makes this tool unique is that it only uses vetted, reliable resources (like the ones our team creates) to answer questions translation teams might have. Since laptops can be hard to access in many parts of the world, we’ve built this AI to work inside WhatsApp and Telegram. We’re bringing expert translation help directly to the apps the local translators are already using, even when the experts might be asleep on the other side of the world. Benjamin’s role is twofold: 1. Guiding the specific process the assistant walks users through to ensure accuracy and quality. 2. Networking with key leaders across different organizations and languages to help them customize the assistant to fit their specific translation contexts.
** A Busy Travel Season (May-June) ————————————————————
After a relatively quiet period, the travel calendar is filling up quickly. Please join us in praying for these upcoming trips: * Indonesia: Training for a new church-based translation project. * Orlando: Team meetings with unfoldingWord. * Kenya: A gathering of church-based Bible translation trainers to share notes and strategies. * Jordan: A planned trip to train an Arabic AI assistant administrator was recently postponed indefinitely; please pray for clarity on when this can be rescheduled.
Pray that they’d happen if that’s best, that the right people will come, and that they’d be profitable.
** Home & Family ————————————————————
Life at home remains full as we navigate a busy spring. We are currently weighing school options for our two oldest children for the upcoming year and would appreciate prayers for wisdom in that decision.
We’re in birthday season. For those keeping track that means that in about a month all the kids will be odd. Unfortunately Benjamin will miss Mira’s piano recital and Cyrus’s birthday on a work trip. We’re also planning to squeeze in some camping with family on the East Coast. On the “homestead,” we’ve been busy (trans)planting trees—and the kids have been busy climbing the more established ones!
Our DIY house projects continue at their usual “slower than hoped” pace. We found some beautiful old closet doors at the REstore, but stripping them has been a major task. Benjamin also learned a valuable lesson in framing after just hanging door frames against the 2”x4”s instead of getting it the right size. It’s a learning process, but we are grateful for the chance to make this house our home.
Thank you for standing with us!
