We had a fun thanksgiving with Shanna’s family in Texarkana, where her grandparents are living now. Her sister brought two hams, only one of which we managed to eat less than half of, her grandmother made some amazing macaroni and cheese and her mom made tons of awesome desserts. Russell & I managed not to fight too much over the Sopaipilla cheesecake. On Black Friday we visited her grandfather at the mall where he works and had lunch in the food court with him, then we wandered around Books-a-million for a million minutes enjoying ourselves thoroughly. Friday night we had fun with a small bonfire and some of the boys from the children’s home that backs up to their property came by and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows (ick!) with us. We wrapped up the weekend by coming back to Dallas and having a fun party with a bunch of folks from our church which included an egg toss (the guy on the winning team was the worst covered by egg!), sack races (rumors of the girls’ victory are greatly exaggerated), and musical chairs (there was no hip-checking, at all, promise!). Of course there was lots of good food there too and we built a fire at the end of the night and with the help of plenty of boy scout juice it caught well.
