Squeezing in time for fun and friends
We were blessed to have some wonderful neighbors during our time in Dallas (that we knew already from our previous time at school) and Mira and their girls played together almost everyday, while the mommas did their best to keep each other sane. 😉 Before we left we wanted to be sure they had a… Continue reading Squeezing in time for fun and friends
Thanksgiving with Family
Loved the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with family again this year. It was great—full of food and laughter and lots of lounging around chatting—but definitely too short! Already looking forward to the next time we have the opportunity.
Art and Worship and the world of Iconography
I spent 8 weeks this fall taking a graduate course in World Arts. It was intense, and somewhat poorly timed (yay first trimester…), but I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to do some first hand research on Eastern Orthodox iconography. It was fascinating to dig into a topic I’ve been surrounded by for the past three… Continue reading Art and Worship and the world of Iconography
All shoe sizes huh?
I wear size 14.
Go West!
Our work mostly takes us to the east side of the country (and beyond) so we haven’t spent much time exploring to the west (though we have been to one spot in the mountains out that direction.) We took a quick vacation a few weeks ago to relax and explore a place we’ve wanted to… Continue reading Go West!
Life Lately (or Exploring with Mira)
Mira’s First Birthday Celebration
We were traveling on Mira’s first birthday, and busy after we got back, but we decided that her first year of life was worth celebrating, even if it was a bit belated. They built a playground in front of our building early this spring, and our friends came out to celebrate with us (and watch… Continue reading Mira’s First Birthday Celebration

It’s a dragon daddy! Why don’t you kill it?
Mira at 6 months
We’ve made it half a year now  with our precious handful. (Yes, she’s a handful all by herself, but awfully cute.) So here are some photos of Mira at 6 months. Threw the last one in there lest you think life is always smiles and giggles around here. 😉
On the shores of the sea…
We went to the beach! Only it wasn’t the ocean, but an inland sea. We enjoyed just relaxing in the water for a while, but Mira on the other hand has decided she is not a fan of water–wild or domestic. We were wondering if she’d react differently to the beach than she does to bath… Continue reading On the shores of the sea…
Celebrating Independence
It’s a different experience to celebrate independence in a country you don’t have much connection to the history of, but we loved the festivities! Not quite like any fair I’ve been to in the states, it’s much more interactive, and looked like a blast for kids. Here’s some shots of the fun! There were several… Continue reading Celebrating Independence
Portraits of a Tiny Human Being
Now that she’s 6 weeks old I’m finally getting around to posting these…
Root beer!
Local pizza joint has started importing root beer. Shanna approves.
