Squeezing in time for fun and friends
We were blessed to have some wonderful neighbors during our time in Dallas (that we knew already from our previous time at school) and Mira and their girls played together almost everyday, while the mommas did their best to keep each other sane. 😉 Before we left we wanted to be sure they had a… Continue reading Squeezing in time for fun and friends
Thanksgiving with Family
Loved the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with family again this year. It was great—full of food and laughter and lots of lounging around chatting—but definitely too short! Already looking forward to the next time we have the opportunity.
Art and Worship and the world of Iconography
I spent 8 weeks this fall taking a graduate course in World Arts. It was intense, and somewhat poorly timed (yay first trimester…), but I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to do some first hand research on Eastern Orthodox iconography. It was fascinating to dig into a topic I’ve been surrounded by for the past three… Continue reading Art and Worship and the world of Iconography
Go West!
Our work mostly takes us to the east side of the country (and beyond) so we haven’t spent much time exploring to the west (though we have been to one spot in the mountains out that direction.) We took a quick vacation a few weeks ago to relax and explore a place we’ve wanted to… Continue reading Go West!
Life Lately (or Exploring with Mira)
Snow is ok when you’re just visiting…
Since Ahma was here to visit, we decided to head off to the mountains for a few days between Christmas and New Year’s. (Partly so us parents could get in some skiing while we had a willing babysitter!) It was a wonderful trip… in which we all got terribly sick in the hotel room, and… Continue reading Snow is ok when you’re just visiting…
Mira’s First Birthday Celebration
We were traveling on Mira’s first birthday, and busy after we got back, but we decided that her first year of life was worth celebrating, even if it was a bit belated. They built a playground in front of our building early this spring, and our friends came out to celebrate with us (and watch… Continue reading Mira’s First Birthday Celebration
Mira’s first 3 months
Today is Mira’s 3 month birthday. This seems like a significant milestone to me for some reason… though it’s possibly just because of the way they size baby clothes. Here are some of my favorite pictures of her at 1 month, 2 months and 3 months though. With a bonus 2 month thrown in because… Continue reading Mira’s first 3 months
Celebrating Independence
It’s a different experience to celebrate independence in a country you don’t have much connection to the history of, but we loved the festivities! Not quite like any fair I’ve been to in the states, it’s much more interactive, and looked like a blast for kids. Here’s some shots of the fun! There were several… Continue reading Celebrating Independence
Mira the extrovert
Mira met everybody at church today and hardly raised a fuss even though she was awake for quite a long time.
Mira’s first days
Here are some more pictures of Mira, from the hospital to coming home. Sorry it took so long to get them up, my hands have been a little full… 🙂
Our city from above
We headed out from work the other day to go see the botanical gardens, because it was probably one of the last sunny days we’ll have for awhile. However, due to a public transportation mishap (and an inexact knowledge of where the gardens are actually located) we ended up at the park up on the… Continue reading Our city from above
White stuff
View from our balcony this very foggy morning. (Admittedly a long way off. We didn’t get any down here in the city.) Photos courtesy of Ben, because I left for a workshop before it was light enough to see.
